Three parts, read in order. By the end you will have built one thing and put it somewhere other people can reach — not a toy that only runs on the machine it was written on.

How to follow these#
Type the commands rather than pasting them where you can. Typing is slower and is most of the reason the second part feels easier than the first.
When something does not work, check Troubleshooting before changing three things at once. Almost every failure in this series has one of five causes, and they are all on that page.
Each part ends with a check you can run yourself. If the check fails, stop there — part two on a broken part one produces errors that have nothing to do with what you are reading.
